IN THE WEE SMALL HOURS
   A  HALLOWEEN TALE...

It was Halloween night all across East L.A.
All the creatures were stirring and making their way
To a junky garage owned by old Ed Brown
He was the scariest ghoul in this barrio town.
He sipped on his bourbon with a plan up his sleeve
"I'll get even with Chico this halloween Eve.
All year that boy has been giving me grief
I'll give him a good scare but I'll make it quite brief.
I'll hide in the store room till he comes in tonight
After he kisses his date he'll get such a fright!"
So Ed patiently waited for Chico's return
But noises and moans started to rattle and churn.
Ed grabbed for his bottle, to his chest he held dear
Lightening flashed thru the window and filled him with fear.
He ran for the door but stood there quite shocked
Much to his dismay the store room door was locked.
He tugged and he pulled and twisted the handle
"I'm stuck here inside." he said lighting a candle
His eyes opened wide when he looked to the floor
A shadow appeared from under the door.
A mean, ghostly shape began to slither and ooze
"It's a good thing," he said "I've got plenty of booze."
"Quiet, Ed Brown!!" the spirit did yell
"You'd better listen up. I've got a story to tell!
You called upon spirits to do a job you've begun
To frighten and scare a boy who's so young.
How could you scare him...he's been so good to you.
And how do you repay him? Anger in all that you do.
You're mean and you're grouchy and you make quite a mess.
Chico gives 100% and not one measure less.
Chico's loyal and truthful and works very hard.
His back is weary and his hands are all scarred.
He gives you the best of his car-wrenching days.
It would be in your best interest to give him a raise."
Ed listened to the ghost, he noted each word.
But something sounded funny in the voice that he heard.
Could it be he was framed, this was definitely skrewy
Then he recognized the voice...it was his good buddy Louie.
The door swung open and there they both stood
Louie sheepishly grinned and Chico said "LOOOKING GOOOD!"
"So, you think you pulled a fast one with your fiendish barrage?"
Ed pointed to the door and yelled, "Get out of my garage!!"
